Our Italian language course programs have been developed from a communicative based approach and focuses on the four language abilities (listening, speaking, reading, writing). Our first goal is communication, both oral and written and language analyses . We divide our standard course in two parts: "Language Analyses" and "Communicative Tasks". The language analyses activities include controlled oral and written production, while the communicative tasks involve listening and reading comprehension and free oral and written activities. Grammatical structures are presented in order of frequency and relative complexity. Teaching material is always introduced in some form of authentic text (newspaper or magazine article, taped dialogue, video-taped situation, letter, short story, etc.). In both in Language Analyses and Communicative Tasks parts we focus our attention to the 5 language activities: listening, speaking, reading, writing and metalinguistics. There is a maximum number of 15 students per class although, depending on season, our average class size is generally between 3 and 6 people. Our Italian language course programs are divided into three different levels : 1. Beginner 2. Intermediate 3. Advanced Italian learning is general for a period of 1/2 week, so we suggest to continue study and practise for more weeks. Most of our students take full advantage of the authentic materials (selected from the every day life: newspapers, magazines, books, radio, TV, internet, etc) that we use in the classroom and the communicative activities and tasks we employ, which often extend out of the classroom and into the students' free time. Upon request, we also offer completion exams to solidify and measure progress achieved
OUR TEACHERS: our teachers of Italian as foreign language have studied foreign languages at universities and foreign language schools abroad and all have been trained to teach Italian as a second/foreign language. All the teachers of our Italian language courses are university graduates and most of them speak at least one or two other foreign languages. Progress of the students is continuously monitored and all teachers meet weekly to facilitate organization and ensure proper student placement. You will learn Italian with our teachers enjoyng Palermo and Agrigento during the weekend (1 free educational tour in the historic centre or in other beautiful places here and there in Palermo and Agrigento): you will see what you 've learned about Sicily!!! You will be placed to attend your italian course (basic, intermediate or advanced level) after an entry test via mail at the moment of the booking or during the first day of your Italian course.

ITALIAN COURSE STANDARD: Italian language + Sicily, Palermo and Agrigento in spots ; you learn italian lanaguage and sicilian culture by our locals both in Palermo and Agrigento. Content: 1. Grammar lessons and conversations to improve comunicative skills in written and oral italian; 2. The program is both theoretical and practical including information about Sicily (history, art and culture) and educational guided tours: Palermo Agrigento and their historic centre as extra activities; 3. Entrance exam to ascertain linguistic capability and inform the planning of specific programs for different levels (beginners, elementary, intermediate, advanced).You can propose a thema and we organize a special Italian language course for you; 4. Sicily, Palermo and Agrigento spots: history,geography, art, enogastronomy,actuality,folklore,reading and translation of authentic extract of italian literature (Pirandello, Camilleri, Sciascia, Verga, etc…); 5. Informative guided excursions in the centre of Palermo and of Agrigento during the weekend as extra activity included in the price. EXTRA : activities for your free time (excursion,sport, cook course,etc.) during the weekend and for the period of your stay on request thanks to our partners, local tour operators. 2. ITALIAN LANGUAGE FOR YOUR JOB (business, tourism,Italian for theologians): you learn Italian language and study a specific topic (business, tourism, Italian for theologians) by our locals both in Palermo and Agrigento. This course is intended for professionals who already have a basic knowledge of the Italian language and want to improve both their social Italian and the language they need for their professional life and in the interaction with professional partners in Italy. The course is tailor-made to respond to the students' professional needs. Business: this course aims to familiarise the student with the specific teminology used most frequently in Italy in the business world; Tourism: this course is tailored to those working in the tourist and hotel industries and focuses on the language needed to deal with real work situations; Theologians: this is a specific course for priests and theologians in general who want to learn the religious vocabulary and formulae of the liturgy. During the course students can analyse, with the help of the teachers, tests derived from the Sacred Books (Bible and Gospel). The course also includes lessons about pronunciation and intonation. It will also be possible to meet Italian priests with whom the students can celebrate mass, in Italian (on request and if it is possible in Agrigento or Palermo STRUCTURE OF OUR ITALIAN COURSES: 1. The first day of the course at our school students are first welcomed by our professional teachers and shortly afterwards take a preliminary test (a written grammar test and an interview) to identify their general level and the specific area of language they need to improve and to determine the appropriate level of their Italian course; 2. Class sizes range from 1 to 15 students on average. This allows the teacher to monitor participants in our Italian language courses with particular care, and guarantees each student an active participation in the learning process. At the end of the Italian language course students receive a certificate of attendance; 3. Italian course consists of 20 lesson per week (or more on request) at least: 4 hours (each 1-hour lesson runs for 50 minutes) a day from Monday till Friday (mornings or afternoons whether possible) by our locals in Palermo and Agrigento; 4. If requested there is the possibility of dealing with specific topics. We suggest attending at least a two-week-course. Various teaching methods and multi-media instruments as well as films, etc. are chosen to enrich the student's comprehension of Italian language and culture
5. Educational material is included in the price. We use our lecture notes.
LITERARY ITINERARY: PIRANDELLO Agrigento and Porto Empedocle: this itinerary is recommended for those who want to deal with the studying of the Sicilian writer Luigi Pirandello and his masterpiece "Il Fu Mattia Pascal" (please, specify if you desire to sudy other literary works). We will speak about all the "posti della memoria" di Luigi Pirandello: all the sicilian places that were really important for Pirandello's literary works.
